An Interview Between Artist George Shalhoub and Artist Jihad Al-Atrash
Higher Metn Artisan organized a dialogue session hosting the president of the Professional Artists Syndicate, artist George Shalhoub, in conversation with the distinguished artist Jihad Al-Atrash, at the Social Center in Bteghrine, Upper Metn, on Friday, May 24, 2024.
The event was attended by Mrs. Nahla Al-Masri Abu Al-Hassan, wife of MP Hadi Abu Al-Hassan; UN High Political Commissioner Dr. Bassam Jamal Al-Din; president of the Professional Musicians and Singers Syndicate Farid Abu Saeed; president of the National Council for Lebanese Children Mrs. Wajdan Abu Al-Hassan; Ras El Metn mayor Raja Abu Raslan; Hilal Al-Nasr Club president Captain Wahbi Gharz El-Din; and the wonderful artist Elsie Farneini. Also present were representatives of social, women's, cultural, environmental, and religious organizations from across Upper Metn, as well as independent social, cultural, and academic figures. Delegations of principals, teachers, and students from secondary schools participating in Higher Metn Artisan's classical theater competition — launched in 2022 — also attended, including students from Najeeb Saleheh Official Secondary School, Abdullah Al-Khouri Official Secondary School, and Al-Manar Al-Haditha School.
Higher Metn Artisan extended thanks to the Abu Al-Hassan Family Association for hosting the event at the Bteghrine Social Center, and to all who contributed to its success through photography and sound engineering.
The session was enriched by artist George Shalhoub's insightful responses to Jihad Al-Atrash's questions. Valuable contributions were also made by syndicate president Farid Abu Saeed and star Michel Hourani, whose remarks sparked a lively discussion that proved highly informative for students and guests alike.
The event concluded with a tribute to world kickboxing champion Rani Wajdi Al-Khateeb of Hilal Al-Nasr Club — world champion in 2016 and 2022 — who was presented with a shield of honor on behalf of Higher Metn Artisan by the distinguished guests.
